Upcoming Events and Appearances

I’ll be working the Pages and Platforms table at Willamette Writers Conference. This big annual gathering of writers, coaches, agents, and teachers is a must-attend event for Pacific Northwest writers. Stop by and visit us in the exhibitors’ area!

August 2-4, 2019

From Writer to Author is the workshop event of the autumn season for serious writers.

I’ll be leading the story structure segment of this fantastic weekend intensive. We’ll also take a field trip to the nation’s biggest bookstore, Powell’s City of Books.

Kennedy School Hotel is just…cool. It’s a hotel in an old school. You can drink in the principal’s office! Sleep in a classroom! Wander the halls without a hall pass.

But make no mistake: you’ll learn a lot! And you’ll come away with a new identity as a professional author.

High Sierra Writers

Springtime 2019 found editor Rachelle Ramirez (center, waving) and me flying to Reno, Nevada to give a four-hour workshop in Story Grid Fundamentals to the High Sierra Writers.

I think they liked us! They took us out for drinks and snacks afterwards. HSW is a large, active, and professional writers’ organization and we hope they’ll invite us back.

AWP Convention 2019

Pages & Platforms (Sue Campbell, Rachelle Ramirez and I) talked to hundreds of writers at the huge national AWP (Association of Writers and Writing Programs) convention in Portland.

What did we learn? That a lot of writers need and want help describing, marketing, and selling their work.

Which is why we decided to offer From Writer to Author in September, 2019.

A trade show booth with a large banner at the back saying Pages and Platforms Editing and Book Launch services. Sue Campbell in the foreground adjusting a large monitor. Rachelle Ramirez behind the table waiting for customers.

Portland Book Festival 2018

Pages and Platforms‘ maiden voyage into the convention space took place at Literary Arts’ annual Portland Book Festival in downtown Portland.

So many enthusiastic writers stopped by to talk to us about Story Grid editing and Book Launch Coaching. I sold a few copies of Restraint, too!
